Doctor Song

(Singing from the same song sheet as Dr Song)

Did you know that China’s One Child Policy is rocket science? Professor Song Jian and his colleagues (especially Dr Yu ) who were aerospace engineers, devised a brilliant plan by “flying under the radar” so to speak to socially engineer China’s One Child Policy using the same disciplines and mathematical formula required for westernised space-age technologies.

Dr Song has been aptly described as the progenitor of China’s One Child Policy legislated by Deng Xiaoping’s government which followed Mao’s death in 1976.

“Cradle Song” from my epic operatic work China 70s Child is dedicated to Dr Song and his team of (non-social) scientists who commenced their epic social work in 1971 in the middle of the Chinese Cultural Revolution.

Chairman Mao Zedong wasn’t very fond of social scientists so their work adresssing China’s over-population issues was banned during the cultural revolution from 1966 to 1976.

When Deng Xiaoping become Chairman Mao’s successor he was able to implement the One Child Policy by 1978. It was totally enshrined in nationwide law by 1981.

Deng was twice purged by Chairman Mao. Deng’s son was deliberately crippled as punishment but Deng still remained loyal to Mao. Deng was politically astute and knew how & when to keep his head down whilst biding his time.

Deng was a very forgiving man with military instincts and therefore worked silently with his own succession plan and economic reforms. With his background in army training Deng knew how to cope under duress and in the face of adversity of Mao’s capricious communist policies.

Mao and his wife were engrossed with, and binged out on, their cultural aspirations. They were too pre-occupied with their indulgences…their 8 Model Operas during the cultural revolution to notice what Deng Xiaoping (their military strategist) was up to in collaboration with the missile engineers under Dr Song.

Folk in Taiwan today don’t like those same missiles on high-politcal-alert pointing to Taiwan’s cities and vital infrastructures.

Lisa was born in Taiwan but felt much safer in the WPT with Christina & Charlene who were born in mainland China.

Not many people know that. I trust you have been enlightened.

Cheers…Brently
